Ice Strawberries
This piece is inspired by the feel of a cool fruit drink on a scorching summer's day...think tennis at Wimbledon or Flushing Meadows, think long hot days at the beach....I love the icy cool colours, and the wonderful plump shape of the strawberries.
Recipe for a COOL SUMMER FRUITS SMOOTHIE: The perfect antidote to a hot and steamy day, a long day at the office or a tough session at the gym: Take a selection of your favourite fruits (preferably organic), including strawberries, other summer berries and (to thicken up the smoothie) at least one banana. If needed, cut fruit into chunks. Add a splash of organic apple juice, and wizz it all together in a blender...and then indulge.... savour that cool smooth taste and the instant refreshment! It's like taking a huge multivitamin, but it's much more enjoyable than swallowing a tablet and the feel-good factor is instantaneous.
If it's a really scorching day, add some crushed ice to your fruit smoothie, pour into a vacuum flask and head to the beach with your own "take-away refreshment" under your arm! For another variation, add some organic fruit yoghurt - what better breakfast can you think of?
Thinking of all this, while sitting here in Scotland in mid-winter, it's making me long for summer already! But that's one wonderful aspect of art, isn't it? Strawberry Fields
