Biography of SEAN HARTLEY
Sean Hartley is a fourth generation Kenyan who has spent most of his life “in the bush” (including time which should have been spent at school!).
A short spell in the British Army with the Royal Engineers “led him astray” (his own words) but he soon returned to his beloved African bush. His many trades include tailoring, civil engineering, construction, electrics and – his great favorite: mechanics…he is especially happy when tinkering with an old Land Rover.
Knowing that he belonged in the bush, he pursued a career in Lodge Management and Professional Safari Guiding. He now works in his favorite place of all, the Maasai Mara, in Kenya.
Photography has always been one of Sean’s interests, but he never took it up professionally until he was called upon to produce a brochure and website for The Lewa Safari Camp in Kenya’s famed Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. This lead to the purchase of better equipment, and then it turned into a passion.
Most of his photographs are taken while accompanying guests out into the wilderness as their professional guide. His skill and passion for wildlife photography have also lead him to the position of Stills Photographer and Tutor at a new camp in the Maasai Mara, where is also the Camp Manager.
