Having your own website - or even more commonly, having your own blog - is great fun! What on earth's a blog, you might ask. Everyone talks about blogs these days, so it's handy knowing what one is: a "blog" is short-hand for "web log", and basically it's an online journal or diary.

Then we discovered SquareSpace, an online platform for building websites and/or creating blogs, which is really easy to use. Even if you know absolutely nothing about HTML, or wouldn't know where to start to create a website, you can build a great looking site on SquareSpace. Honestly, it's really easy. (Plus it helps you learn the mechanics of web-building, just by watching the software in action!) By the same token, if you are an experienced web designer, SquareSpace provides a convenient platform which you can customize as much as you like...

If it's just a simple, straightforward, no-frills blog you want to start, you can also access free blogging services from a huge number of providers...a few of the most well known are MySpace, Google, and MSNLiveSpaces. Just follow the links and instructions on the relevant website, and you can build your own blog for free. As you learn more, you'll be able to customize your blog more and more, to make it more personal to you.
